Welcome to Marketing Monday, on The Ring The Bling And All The Things podcast. My name is Kristina Stubblefield. And for over 15 years, I've served as a marketing strategist, and business coach. Also, I was once a wedding vendor. In these podcast episodes, I'm providing bite sized, digestible marketing solutions, and information that can be immediately implemented, and make an impact on your business. Now, let's dive in to this episode. 

Okay, so in today's episode, I'm going to take a little bit different approach on this one, I actually have a question for you. Are you using your social media channels? to sell yourself? If someone visits your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, tick tock bash, which ones have already said, there's so many. If someone visits one of those channels, do they know immediately what you do? Do you post about your different services? I don't necessarily mean to you post that says, hey, I offer full service wedding planning. That's not necessarily what I mean. If there is there a graphic there that says that. But if someone goes to your Instagram, can they immediately tell what you do? What you offer? How you're different than your competition? Do they know that you're relevant in the industry? Do you post on a regular basis? I'm going to stick to today's topic. And it's about selling yourself in your business. Through your social media channels. This isn't about how many times to post a week on Facebook or Instagram. It's not about it should be video, it should be graphics, it should be this it should be that. No, this is just an easy episode to allow you a little bit of room to think about your own business, and maybe some opportunities that are available through social media platforms. Just share with people what you do. To let them in, let them get to know you. Let's just say you're a caterer and that you do wedding cakes. Do you post pictures? After you've set up the wedding cake? Maybe not the same day? Let me rephrase. Do you take pictures after you've set up your wedding cake? And maybe some time later in that week, the next day? Do you post about it? Maybe you offer different types of cake. Maybe they're gluten free? Maybe they're more elaborate cakes. Maybe they're scaled down cakes? Maybe they're cupcakes? Maybe they're mini desserts. The point is, Do people really know what all you offer? If someone judged your business or made a decision on your business based on them visiting your Instagram channel is that your best foot forward? One of the things that businesses can do, especially wedding professionals, you know, I've worked with all different types of businesses. And I get pumped about talking about social media for wedding professionals. And there's a one key reason why I get so excited talking about it. Wedding professionals have more content, more availability to content, more access to content to post about on all different types of social media channels than almost every other type of business out there. Let that sink in for just a minute. I've worked with businesses, they don't have a whole lot to pull from that can get posted out on their Facebook, their Instagram, their LinkedIn, their YouTube, but wedding professionals, you have a plethora

at your fingertips. Most wedding professionals are there during the event now, before you go running being like Well, I mean should I have my phone Taking pictures the whole time during the event? No, you probably know that that's not the right answer. But there's a way to be tasteful about it. You can take before the event pictures at the end of the night pictures. You can network with the other vendors that are there, the photographer, the videographer. But the question at hand is are you using utilizing your social media channels to share what your business has to offer? Let's go back to say that you were back to the caterer that you do wedding cakes. When you're a caterer. Do you also do box lunches for wedding parties, vendors, showers, out of town family members or friends. If a person is just utilizing Instagram, or just utilizing Facebook, to search out wedding professionals, and your business is found there you have a channel that you don't post about the different options available in your business. They can pass right by not even realizing you do more than wedding cakes. You do catering box lunches, and anything else that your business may offer. This goes along for DJs too. If you're a DJ, okay, you probably provide ceremony music. Probably entertainment at the actual reception. Microphone sound for the officiant the couple. What about up lighting monograms pyrotechnics, samples of your work from events can sell your services without someone even having a conversation with you. They may have not even met you at a wedding show yet. They may not have even been to your website, someone mentioned her name. And they went Instagram and looked you up, they went to your Facebook page and looked you up. Wedding professionals have so much social media content at their fingertips. The key is has to be utilized, has to be utilized. social media channels are also a sales channel for your business. Now we can get into social media marketing, we can talk about strategy and how much you should post and what type of content you should post. But the topic today is just bringing awareness to the fact if you do not post about the different services, products, options, all of that different type of wording. If you do not post about it on your social media channels, and that is the way that people are making decisions on who to use for their wedding. You're not going to get to be an option. You're not going to be at the top of that engaged couples list to pick from because they've just went out and base their decision on what's on Instagram. And you sometimes get around to posting on Instagram a picture here or there. And I know a lot of wedding professionals post pictures of a bride and groom or bride and bride or a groom and groom, the engaged couple the married couple. Those are great. But what's in the caption? What hashtags are used? How does that picture translate back or video translate back to what services or products you provided for that person's event? Can you post tips, tricks, information? Absolutely you can. And there's a time and place for it on the different social media platforms. After all, being known as an authority in your industry is very important and social media is a great avenue for achieving that. But your channel needs to also showcase what you have to offer.

And we can talk ideas and tips and all that kind of stuff about what you can do to accomplish this topic of today's episode. But you can go live you can record a video You can showcase pictures from an event. You can point out your products from an event, there are many things you can do. And there are many different ways of doing it going live recorded video, slideshows, reels stories, so many options. But what I want you to take away with this episode is taking a look at the social media platforms you have out there. And think for one minute when you look through your social media channel, or channels, as a customer, as a potential client, not as the owner of the business. And as you scroll down through there, the posts that you have made, the pictures, the videos you've shared, the tips, do they lead back to or give a person insight into what your business offers to them? I think so many times people get caught up on the perfection part of post, making sure when they go to post that story, that they've got mentions and hashtags and gifts, and wording and music and this and that and this and that. But when a person sees that, what do they see? What nugget of information are you leaving them with? That says ABC Company is this ABC company offers this ABC company can help you with this. ABC company can make your life easier because we do offer this. Of course, captions are important hashtags are important. The content you put out is important. But a new word I've adopted more recently is messy action, just taking action. Make sure when you're at these events setting up, getting ready. Whatever it is your line of work is in the wedding industry. You take some pictures, you take a quick video, it doesn't have to be perfect. Now, if it is a picture of the couple, or it's a beautiful church picture, or a beautiful wedding party picture now, do you want it to be blurry? Now? Again, let's go back to common sense. Of course you want it to be a good picture. But this goes back to those networking opportunities and working with those vendors beyond the event in question. Letting them put their watermark on that picture so you can share it out on your social media. Photo credits, it's all about working together. But I would love for you to take a few minutes in review your social media channels with an open mind as if you knew nothing about your business. And it's not easy to do that. But as if you knew nothing about your business, and do your post is your content. Share, explain. Let people in a little bit to understand to see what you have to offer to help them make their day better, to help them make their day easier to help take their event to the next level. Whatever wording you want to use. social media channels are a sales avenue for wedding professionals. showcase your work, talk about your work, your services, your products. Again, it doesn't have to be perfect. Having content there is so important.

Of course it can be on brand and your stuff can match. And we can get into a conversation about is it attention grabbing. But at the end of the day, if you're looking to book events, if you're looking for traffic and leads and all of those things. Are you giving your business a fair shot? At the people visiting your social media channels? Are you giving your business a fair shot to be a contender to be that wedding person that they select or one of their top two or three that they're deciding on? It's so important to get yourself in the running. And in order to do that. People are looking at social media channels very much like people Looking at websites, now, or social media channels ever going to replace websites? Absolutely not I in no way shape or form do I think websites are going anywhere. But if people are making a decision, or it is wavering their decision based on what they find on social media channels, you have to give your business a fair shot. And if you're only posting these beautiful pictures with no explanation, not talking about your products or services, you're not giving your business a fair shot at someone learning more about you, someone having a conversation with you about their event. And every wedding professional out there that is looking to grow their business or book events, has to start looking at social media differently than they have in the past. Like most things, social media is evolving daily. It is really important for you to take the time to look at your business's social media channels, as if you were an end user, a potential client, and What message does it really say to them? does it provide them with the information or post or videos that showcase what your business is about? What products or services that you offer? To help with their special day? I hope that you found this content important. Social media is changing quickly like most things, and I wanted to bring awareness to how people are viewing social media channels now compared to how they used to. So many wedding professionals have a plethora of data, pictures video content to put out on their social media channels. Don't forget to highlight what your business offers. sells.
